CNC milling is a certain type of CNC machining. Custom CNC Milling services are similar to drilling or cutting. CNC milling can perform these processes for a variety of production needs. Milling uses a cylindrical cutting tool that rotates in many directions. Unlike traditional drilling, a milling cutter can move along multiple axes. It also has the capability to create a large array of shapes, holes, slots, and other impressions. The workpiece of a CNC mill can be moved across the milling tool in certain directions. A drill can only achieve a single axis motion, which limits its overall production capability, unlike the a CNC milling machine which is much more versatile.

CNC Turning operations are performed by rotating the workpiece and using a stationary cutting tool, and conversely, CNC milling services are performed by rotating the cutting tool and leaving the workpiece locked in place.

The two use different techniques to create a part. Typically, milling machines create complex parts from blocks of metal by carving away the excess material, while CNC turning services are commonly used for cylindrical parts like shafts.
