CNC surface grinding removes small amounts of material by using a high speed abrasive wheel as a cutting tool. The grinding wheel rotates in place, while the workpiece remains attached to the machine table and moves in the X-, Y-, and Z-axis. Depending on the part size, the grinding wheel will typically take multiple passes to achieve the desired finished dimensions.
CNC surface grinding services are usually performed on ferrous materials. This allows the parts to be held down magnetically. When using non-magnetic parts, they are typically held down with clamps.
